iROKOtv is a video-on-demand (VOD) platform specializing in the distribution of African films and series, primarily Nollywood (Nigerian cinema). Launched on December 1, 2011, it is part of iROKO Partners, an entertainment technology company founded by Jason Njoku and Bastian Gotter. iROKOtv allows users to access a vast library of online audiovisual content via subscription, with several thousand films available for streaming or sometimes direct download through mobile apps.
The platform was one of the first in Africa to offer a legal streaming service for African films on the internet, targeting both local audiences and the African diaspora worldwide. It has evolved over time to include content distribution on various partner platforms (YouTube, Amazon, etc.) and the creation of spin-off television channels, while maintaining a digital subscription model for primary access to its film catalog.
