Medsaf was a Nigerian healthtech startup founded in 2016/2017 in Lagos, Nigeria, with the mission of digitizing and optimizing the pharmaceutical supply chain in Africa by connecting hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies with manufacturers and suppliers of safe and verified medicines through an integrated technology platform.
Medsaf's solution aimed to improve access to, transparency of, and efficiency in medicine procurement by offering services including direct sourcing, inventory management, purchase credit, and logistics solutions, thereby reducing reliance on informal channels often prone to counterfeiting.
The startup had raised several million dollars from international investors, including Techstars, Y Combinator, and other venture capital funds, and had collaborated with over 1,000 healthcare facilities in Nigeria. However, faced with financial difficulties, the failure of essential fundraising and the absence of customer payments, Medsaf ceased operations in 2024/2025 after unsuccessfully attempting an acquisition or Series A financing.
